Spencer Kimbell’s wouldn’t dance. She didn’t like soccer and hated any activity that required pants. Spencer loves to bake. That’s her special interest and as far as other grown ups know she isn’t interested in much else. Everyone seems to wonder, “will Spencer try something new?” Her parents know she will when she’s ready.

Until then, Mama and Mommy sign Spencer up for a new cooking class in the city. Cooking class is where Spencer feels most comfortable. She loves it so much it’s sometimes hard to get her to leave. But is Spencer hyperfocused on cooking class or something else?

Spencer Kimbell’s special interest is baking. For her birthday, her parents surprise her with a brand new stand mixer! Sid, Spencer’s younger sibling, is intrigued by the new gadget—until it starts whirring and burring and making their body hurt!

After Sid lunges for the off switch to make it stop, the Kimbell family calls a meeting to try and figure out what to do next. They’ll have to come up with a solution that protects everyone in the family but also allows Spencer to explore her special interest. But how?
