I wrote Spencer’s Noisy Mixer and Spencer’s Special Interests for the kid who has never seen their experience represented and for the caregivers who need respectful, neurodiversity-affirming strategies for tackling the challenges of raising Autistic children. This kind of book did not exist when I was a kid and as a result I felt confused, misunderstood, isolated and broken.
Understanding Autism and Neurodiversity helped contextualize, affirm and help me find joy in my unique experience! It is my hope that Sid and Spencer stories will offer this same hope and joy to neurodivergent people—children, adults and those in between.
